Sex trafficking has destroyed the lives of many young Nepalese girls. Poverty is intertwined with the history and cultural identity of Nepal, which creates a prime environment for traffickers to prey on vulnerable women and girls. Women are often lured into human trafficking by the promise of a job and a "better life" but later find themselves trapped in a life of indentured servitude. Nepalese women and girls are considered especially desirable because of their appearance and characteristic vulnerability due to lack of education and widespread poverty in Nepal.
