Surji Devi Ram of Kanakpur Village, Madhupatti VDC, Saptari District, Nepal, was married at around the age of 8 or 9 and had her first child at the age of 16, after which she developed uterine prolapse. Surji is now an activist in her community on the issue of uterine prolapse and serves as the President of Madhupatti's Reproductive Rights Forum. Three years ago, Surji underwent surgery to repair her prolapsed uterus. In this video, Surji tells a small piece of her inspiring story in her own words.
