This film was shot and roughly edited by a group of Nepali women from the Terai region as part of a participatory video project conducted by IWMI in 2013. It presents women's points of view on how male migration overseas has been affecting their livelihoods. The film raises multiple intertwined issues on adaptation to climatic and societal change such as the current challenges to make a livelihood from farming and the dominant role played by social norms in producing women's vulnerability.
This participatory video project is part of a larger research on gender, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change, combining surveys, interviews and focus group discussions across Nepal, India and Bangladesh.
